First I want to wish everyone a wonderful easter! I miss talking with all of you. I still miss Newland. However, with the snow reports you all have given me, I think I would have been pretty cold! Ya think?
Now for the not so good news................
RECURRENCE
A few weeks ago I started having a few headaches which lead to having a brain scan. Unfortunately, there are 4 tumors in the brain. I started radiation last Friday. I will have 15 straight days of treatments.
The good news is they only take about 5 minutes. No pain. Just some headaches which are caused by swelling near the tumors. The Dr has put me on steroids to help with that.
Both the radiation and chemo Doctor's are optomistic and say that this is treatable.
Two months after the last radiation treatment is done, a brain scan will be done. If the results do not show what they hoped for there is a procedure called 'Gamma Knife' which is used to remove the tumors. It is only performed in Greenville.
I have been on information overload and have not been able to read much on all this. Just remember if you 'google' anything, this is secondary or metastatic brain cancer from breast cancer.
My regular three month scans are in the next week..for the liver and bones. I will keep you posted.
One of the biggest questions I have been getting is how the cancer recurred while on chemo. What I have been told is normal chemo through IV infusion does not affect the 'brain blood'. There is a chemo pill we will be discussing that does affect it.
As usually my family are being real troopers. Mom still goes with me to scans and treatments. It is great having her. Not to mention everything else she does for me/us. We love her like there is no tomorrow.
Please remember how much I miss and love all of you!
Mark 5:34 He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering."
Jackie, you are an amazing person. Your positive outlook and optimism are the best medicine of all. I'm praying that your treatments will be successful and that you will not have to have surgery.
